    I think this is a nice gem that not many people know about.  There are several similar programs in the US right now, but they do not have the support or environment to make it work on such a large scale.  El Sistema exists in the US now, thanks to this Abreu’s TED Prize, and hopefully it will grow worldwide.  Also, I think this guy makes a really good point that needs to be addressed by conductors and musicians around the world.  Classical music is not something for the social elite, it is for everyone.  I loved this: ‘Society is not at the service of the arts, but the arts are at the service of society.’  As it should be.
